Best Home Security for 2019

Best Home Security for 2019

At a time when burglaries are up, and possessions within our home are more expensive than they’ve ever been – with laptops, phones and Ipads – thoughts naturally turn to home security.
Statistics show that in the Swindon North area between July 2018 and June 2019 there were more than 700 reported burglaries. That is more than 13 a week, nearly two every day.
It’s best to protect your home from being on next year’s statistics report.
Obviously there are some basic home security practices that you can carry out which are free, such as ensuring that all points of access to the home are securely locked when you leave the house or lock up for the evening. Even the smallest window can be a point of access so make sure even these are locked.
Don’t leave keys in the window or door locks. An eagle-eyed burglar will simply smash the window enough to get their hand in to unlock the window and casually climb through or put their arm through the letterbox, unlock the door and walk-in.
Burglars like dark corners and hidden access so ensure that your property is well lit and for a small financial layout, you can add security lights connected to motion detectors or CCTV security cameras.
Intruder alarms are very effective at preventing burglary, as any indication there is a system that will attract attention is a deterrent.
Another deterrent can be CCTV security cameras, which allows you to control your property even when you are away from home.
It is also possible to have CCTV and intruder alarms which are monitored by a security company ensuring that should a burglar enter your home, you will be informed and action can be taken. This can prevent that awful experience of coming back to a ransacked home.
